Sliding windows, also known as gliding windows, slider
windows or pocket sliders operate horizontally with one sash
sliding in a pocket past the other to provide ventilation. The
sashes glide on brass rollers to provide easier and smoother
operation. Many modern and ranch style homes are designed using
the slider window style. The sashes may be lifted out of the
pocket for cleaning without a ladder. When in the locked
position the sashes are secure and cannot be removed.
A two lite slider also referred to as a two section slider has
two equal size sashes. Each sash operates to allow for
ventilation from either side of the unit.
Three-Lite Sliders
A three lite slider also referred to as a three section slider
has a fixed center sash with an operative sash on both sides.
The fixed center sash may be twice the width of the two
operative sashes in a 1/4 - 1/2 - 1/4 configuration.
Alternatively, all three sashes can have the same width in a 1/3
- 1/3 - 1/3 configuration.
Safe and Easy Cleaning
When not in the locked position the sashes may be lifted out
for safe and easy cleaning eliminating the need for exterior
cleaning with a ladder.
